The Virtual Academy of Lafourche provides its academic content in a Blended Learning Environment.

Blended learning is a formal education program in which our students learn at least in part through delivery of content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace.

While students still attend one of our learning sites, face-to-face classroom methods are combined with computer-mediated activities.

Students attend daily for on-site instructions for no charge with an Educational Consultant and in many cases a Support Consultant.

While blended leaning is an innovative educational method it requires a personal commitment both from the student and their parents or guardians to work in each class each month or at least 25 hours in the program each week based on the student's academic plan.

It is also important to note that VAL is a public school and students are mandated to participate in various state and local testing such as LEAP, iLEAP, EOC, etc.

The failure of students to successfully progress in the academic program or take the necessary testing will result in being removed from the Virtual Academy of Lafourche.

We also offer support to students with special needs (504 & 1508).
